Susan McKeon-Steinmann, who was arrested at Smith Haven Mall for reading the names of the US Soldiers killed in Iraq, speaks in front of First District Court prior to her first court date. We were all surprised when the DA moved to dimiss the case "in the interest of justice." The case is over.

The groups called themselves "The North Country Peace Group" and "The Patriots".

“A Community Forum on Iraq”, was held this evening at the Setauket Neighborhood House. It was an interesting and invigorating evening. For ... all » 5 years, the North Country Peace Group has stood vigil every Saturday on the corner of 25A and Bennetts Road to demonstrate against the war. On 3/18/07 a Peace March and Rally was held in Huntington, LI, NY to comemorate the the 4th Anniversary of the start of the Iraq War. The Vigil included the reading of the names of US soldiers from Long Island who were killed in Iraq. The following people spoke: Janet Eagan, Drew Mealey of Military Families Speka Out; bill mcNulty of Long Island Veterans for Peace; Charlotte Koons of Code Pink; and Brian O'haire of the Suffolk peace network. The two pictures are examples from the Green Party of Suffolk "End The Iraq War - Bring Home Our Troops" poster contest. The entries were either in the the youth and adult categories. The winners will be awarded at the 3rd Annual Green Party of Suffolk St. Patrick's Day Fundraiser on 3/16/07 in Setauket, NY. The potluck fundraiser will feature "Blacklisted and the Banned" playing the political music of Sonny Meadows. More information about the fundraiser can be found at www.gpsuffolk.org
